Accountants and legal profession turn to eLearning platform for updates on new Companies Act

Thousands of accountants, solicitors, company directors and company secretaries have been using the eLearning platform KnowledgeBase to bring themselves up to speed with the important changes to company law contained within the Companies Act 2014. The legislation, which took effect in 2015, is the largest piece of legislation enacted in the history of the state and contains far reaching changes to the company law framework in Ireland.

KnowledgeBase, the Dublin based eLearning company, published an online overview and guide to the new Companies Act 2014 that came into force on 1st June last year, making it easy for busy professionals to access and digest the changes to company law in Ireland. Using succinct text and explanatory video tutorials, the KnowledgeBase platform provides a summary of the key changes that have been introduced in the new Companies Act. Since the launch of the KnowledgeBase platform in March 2015, there have been over 10,000 unique users who have pored over the contents of the new legislation to get up to speed on the changes.

A detailed look at the areas of most interest to legal and accountancy professionals reveals the following topics were those most viewed by users: Duties of Directors; Shares and Share Capital; Corporate Governance and Financial Statements.

Peter is a veteran of a number of start-up businesses in financial and management services and has extensive leadership and director experience including a spell as a director of NAMA. Maeve is an experienced marketing professional and project manager. The technology platform was developed by Mark Stewart with Cloudnine Consulting and the content developer for the KnowledgeBase Guide to the Companies Act 2014 is Anthony Thuillier barrister, lecturer and author of “Company Law in Ireland”.
