checkitsreal, the blockchain based brand protection company, has been acquired by iM8 World. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Founded last year by technology entrepreneurs Charlie Sherlock and Christopher Karatzinis, checkitsreal uses unique digital codes to protect products from being counterfeit. checkitsreal had customers in Pharma, Luxury Goods and Telecommunications and boasted a very experienced management team.
iM8 World is an Irish company founded by Shaun Williams and Pat Roche. Shaun and Pat are seasoned entrepreneurs, having been involved in many successful businesses. iM8 delivers digital labels and technology to the clothing sector, protecting brands from counterfeit products and facilitating brands’ connecting digitally with their customers.
iM8 shareholders include David Wallace, the former Irish International Rugby player.checkitsreal and iM8 had been working together for most of 2018.

Meeting Shaun and Pat in iM8 kind of turned the world on its head for us. Their understanding of the clothing world and the business impact of our technology brings a scale to our business which we could not have even imagined.”

We needed the right technology and delivery capability. Having been working with the team for months, checkitsreal was an obvious choice for us”.
The companies are retaining the iM8 branding, with the checkitsreal brand being phased out. All members of the checkitsreal team have transitioned to iM8 World.
