By Uli Bethke, CEO of Sonra
What is it about?
It’s all about the data and the cloud. As per a recent ad campaign, it gets better when you bring great and great together.
Sonra and its partner company Snowflake will run a half day event on the benefits of cloud data warehousing. In 90 minutes we will build a data warehouse from scratch.
When and where is it on?
When:
Tuesday, 1st May, 2018
08:30-11:00
Where:
DIT Grangegorman
7 Grangegorman Lower
Room: RD 005
Dublin 7
The DIT campus at Grangegorman is located in the heart of Dublin and is just 1km from O’Connell Street. You can get there by bus, LUAS, and car. Detailed information on how to get there can be viewed here.
What exciting things can people look forward to?
We will build a data warehouse from scratch using Irish property data and enrich it with data from the 2011 census, and Open Street Map. We might even find a property bargain for you.
Agenda:
08:30 – 09.00 Registration and networking breakfast
09:00 – 09.30 Welcome and introductions
09:30 – 11.00 How to build a Snowflake cloud data warehouse
What opportunities are on offer for those attending?
We will discuss the benefits of running a data warehouse in the cloud, e.g. increased agility and elasticity, cost savings, CAPEX vs OPEX etc. We will also highlight areas you need to consider when migrating a data warehouse to the cloud.
The highlight will be a live demo where we build a data warehouse from the ground up using various Irish data sets (Property prices, 2011 census data, data from Open Street Map).
There will also be networking opportunities and a chance to catch up on breakfast.
Who will be speaking?
Uli Bethke and Dorian Beganovic from Sonra will be speaking. We will also have a speaker from Snowflake.
What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?
Be there on time to get the most out of the networking and breakfast. Take some time after the event to have a wander on the new DIT campus. It’s beautiful.
How can people book tickets / when does it usually sell out?
You can register on the event page.
