Imagine if you could travel back in time, and tell your ten-year-old-self about the technology from science fiction that would become a reality during your lifetime. If you were anything like most ten-year-olds, you’d probably want to know if jetpacks had replaced buses yet. While we haven’t figured out how to fly to work yet, some inventions from film did end up coming true.
If you visit Dubai next Summer, there’s a solid chance that you’ll be able to flag down a flying taxi. Although self-driving technology has been locked in several high profile legal battles as of late, it’s estimated that twenty million autonomous vehicles will be on the roads by 2020. How many more futuristic gadgets can we expect to see during our lifetime? That’s a secret for our future selves to keep, but in the meantime check out the technology that has already transcended fiction, and become a reality:
