One in four players of National Lottery games has downloaded the companies new App, making it one of the most popular mobile applications in the country.

The number of Android and iPhone downloads is growing at the rate of 10,000 a week, with the App allowing thousands to play National Lottery games anywhere in Ireland, the company said today.

National Lottery Head of Technology, Fergus Roche, said the App has been well received by players and potential players since its launch a year ago this week, providing a simple way to play Lotto, EuroMillions, Daily Million and Instant Win Games anywhere. It also allows players to check results, scan tickets, save lottery numbers and find the nearest National Lottery retail agents.

“We are delighted at the huge success of the App. We estimate that it will soon be the most downloaded mobile application in the country. We are currently working on further enhancements to make the experience of responsible play even better.”

National Lottery CEO, Dermot Griffin, said the app is making it more convenient for players. “We are delighted at the success of the App. It means that especially during the summer when people are on holidays in Ireland and out of their routine that they can continue to literally play anywhere, and win anywhere in the country. The more people we having playing – whether online, through the App or in store – the more funds we are raising for Good Causes all over Ireland. We are proud that the amount of money raised for Good Causes over the last 30 years now stands at over €4.9 Billion.”

30 cents in every Euro spent on National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes all over Ireland in the areas of health, sport, education, arts and heritage.
