The Dublin Smartphone Film Festival (DubSmartFF) is back for its 8th year, reaffirming its status as Ireland’s only international film festival dedicated exclusively to mobile filmmaking. This year’s festival promises to be bigger and better than ever, featuring an expanded programme of over 25 exceptional short films, interactive workshops, and expert-led discussions.
Set in an exciting new venue, The Complex in the heart of Dublin, this year’s festival will celebrate talent from Ireland and beyond, featuring an impressive lineup of short films from across the country and international entries. Audiences can look forward to a diverse range of categories, including Best Documentary, AI Short, Animation, Music Video, and more!
For the first time the festival will be including AI Generated films.
“AI has become so prevalent in our culture and the Arts in a few short months, we felt it was another accessible tool that lowers the barriers for creativity. An ethos which we live and breathe here at the festival,” says the Festival Director Robert Fitzhugh.
In addition to screenings, DubSmartFF 2025 is hosting a special workshop and panel discussion in collaboration with ShiftCam, the world leader in mobile lens technology and award-winning mobile accessories. ShiftCam has been recognized with the CES Innovation Award and the Red Dot Design Award, making them a major innovator in the field of mobile cinematography.
This session will explore the versatility of mobile filmmaking in professional cinema, the evolving balance between human creativity and AI-driven storytelling, the future of mobile filmmaking, and more.
The event takes place at The Complex, Dublin 7, on the 29th of March 2025, from 11 am to 6 pm.
