DevStream are launching the first globally certified Android training programmes in Ireland. The programmes, are authorized by the independent certification body Android ATC, based in the US, and will help Irish developers capitalise on the growing market for new apps and games on Android mobile devices.

Ireland is suffering from specific skills shortages in mobile app development and until now there has been no recognized Certification for Android developers, either as professionals or for developers coming out of training programmes.

In addition to certification, DevStream’s trainee developers work on real life industry projects building Android Apps for clients and employers. Earlier this year one team built an Android app for a high profile Irish music promotions company which was released to the Android App store. The two developers involved have both taken up full time positions as software developers.

In addition to Android, Web Developer training programmes will be available from January next year focusing on technologies like HTML5, Javascript, and Ruby on Rails. Clients will be offered full time immersive bootcamp options over 3 months, or part time over 6 months.
