We all have heard of the possible risks of getting cancer from using our mobile phones and many studies have suggested and refuted these risks but a new indepth study with a large sample size has been published stating there is no increased risk of getting cancer from mobile phones.
A nationwide large cohort study performed by a Danish group based in the Institute of Cancer Epidemiology and published in the British Medical Journal has found ” there were no increased risks of tumours of the central nervous system, providing little evidence for a causal association” between phone use and cancer.
The study looked at 358,403 subscription holders over a long period and found that the risk of mobile phone users, even long term users (13yrs), getting cancer of the nervous system was the same as people who did not own or use mobile phones. They did find that a small moderate risk in a subgroup of heavy users or long term users (>13yrs) could not be ruled out and that for these further study would be needed.
