Ahead of Black Friday, sustainable accessories and footwear brand Allbirds is flipping tradition and is calling for consumers to ‘Break tradition, not the planet’.
Allbirds: Fridays For Future
Instead of slashing prices, Allbirds will be raising them and doubling its commitment to sustainability. On 27th November, all prices across its entire collection will increase by £1 and be matched by £1 by the brand, with the additional proceeds going directly to Fridays For Future, the youth-led international climate movement founded by climate activist Greta Thunberg.
This continuation on urging consumers to consider buying better follows the brand’s initiative for 2019, which saw all of its UK stores closed for Black Friday, instead opting to provide complimentary workshops for consumers providing education around their buying decisions and how these have a long-lasting impact.
The core belief of the brand is to showcase how a business can be used as a force for good and contribute to positive change and this continued reversal of the famed retail holiday is an ongoing proof point as to how consumers and brands need to and can take responsibility for tomorrow’s future.
As a certified B Corp, Allbirds believe that business can be a force for good, and balancing purpose with profit is the future of commerce.
To successfully tackle climate change, we need to collectively reduce our carbon impact and protect the earth’s resources. With a little more consciousness around how we consume, we can all tread lighter on the planet.
