When and where is it on?

Knocknarea Arena, Sligo, 25-27 March.

How many years has it been going?

The Global AIforGood Summit is now in its fourth year running by the UN in Geneva. The event in Sligo is in its first year (and will be held for the foreseeable future) and is the first time ever that the Global Summit kicks off outside of Geneva and as such is a unique satellite event that will feed directly into the Global event next May.

What was the inspiration to start it?

AI is set to be the most disruptive technology that society has encountered but we are only at the very beginning of the revolution and as such we have a unique opportunity to shape its impact for good. The potential of AI opens up a myriad of questions and challenges from the ethical to the practical and bringing together leaders and experts from different sectors and disciplines will enable us to ensure that potential pitfalls are mitigated and that we use the opportunity to accentuate human qualities such as creativity, innovation and collaboration.

Additionally, AI will enable us to scale impact at a level never seen before and therefore presents a particularly important opportunity for governments, industry, academia and civil society to harness the power of AI to help accelerate progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (the global framework for development).

What exciting things can people look forward to?

Hear from some of the world’s leading experts in AI such as Neil Sahota, worldwide group leader for IBM Watson; see how the future of work will change and how education needs to evolve so it is fit-for-purpose; participate in defining challenges and questions to be submitted to the UN Global Summit which provides a great opportunity for policy makers and academia to have an impact at the global level.

Learn about how what we are learning from Smart City innovations, including autonomous vehicles developments, can be applied to the regions and discover how traditional industries such as manufacturing and agriculture can tap into the power of AI so they can adapt and thrive in the future digital and data-driven economy;

What opportunities are on offer for those attending?

Network and collaborate with an international and national multi-stakeholder and inter-disciplinary communities that are focused on humanizing tech and ensuring that AI opportunities are leveraged for positive impact in business, society and the workplace;

Participate in workshops (for learning and knowledge sharing) and breakthrough sessions (for reach solutions for key challenges); meet with C-level industry leaders, experts and investors from Ireland and abroad; option to participate in a full day of ‘in the field’ activities and cultural and social events.

Who will be speaking?

IBM Master Inventor and Worldwide Group Leader for IBM Watson, Neil Sahota; Dr. Keven Danaher, leading expert in Ethical AI; Joanne O’Riordan digital inclusion advocate; Alessandra Sala head of research at Nokia Bell Labs; Stevie the Robot!!

What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?

Download the App, connect with speakers and attendees, participate in the workshops (to learn) and the breakthrough sessions (to influence) and avail of the many networking and social opportunities in this stunning location.

How can people book tickets / when does it usually sell out?

A selection of early bird tickets are available now till 01 FEB. We are capping attendance at 400 so that attendees get the most out of the experience so important to book soon before we sell out (expected mid-Feb).

Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?

This is a unique event in that it is officially supported by and feeding into a United Nations Global Summit. It is a fully non-profit event and ticket prices are going towards covering the costs of creating a great experience for attendees and ensuring that there are many opportunities for them to network together and to meet speakers and panellists. It is an opportunity for Ireland’s voice to be heard on the international stage to shape AI policy.
