Devices Of The Future: What To Know About Them
Tech enthusiasts and futurists make predictions about possible future tech devices all the time. Sometimes their speculations come to pass, sometimes they are dead wrong, but one thing is for sure: There will always be something cool to look forward to in the world of technology. Communication, entertainment, and health industries, for example, are experiencing a steady wave of growth in terms of tech innovations, and that wave doesn’t seem to slow down any time soon.
The IoT movement is sweeping across the world of technology, and with it comes new, awesome devices. Software engineers, app developers, and tech startups all have their eyes set on launching all kinds of new experiments for the eventual actualization of the IoT. At the heart of this movement is the Raspberry Pi. Tech gurus are brainstorming, experimenting, and prototyping new ideas using Pi budget computers.
With a Raspberry Pi 4 set, for example, creators are able to prototype drones and robots, and other high-tech devices, without needing to buy $2000 PCs. This makes it possible for anyone with a viable tech idea to experiment on it and eventually launch it for the hungry tech consumers.
That being said, if you’re looking for the cool kind of tech devices to look forward to, consider the following 5 devices:
5G smart devices
The world is eyeing the transition to 5G from 4G technology. 5G is a faster and lesser energy-intensive network in comparison with 4G. Huawei, a Chinese tech company, has already built the 5G infrastructure in readiness for the technology’s eventual launch. The Trump administration is also pressurizing American tech companies to develop 5G for Americans in a bid to outdo the Chinese.
But what does 5G rollout mean for future tech devices?
Our smartphones will be faster in loading apps and websites. Their latency will be much lower than that of 4G.
More efficient smart home devices. That means lightning-speed voice commands for different smart home devices.
More durable and effective wearables. The sensors embedded in smartwatches, for example, will collaborate more seamlessly with low latency.
Self-transforming homes
Engineers at MIT have designed a micro-apartment that can self-transform to anything a user wants it to be, from a home office, a kitchen, a lounge, a home gym, to a sleeping area- You name it! The 15-by-15 feet apartment is named CityHome. The transformations are made via wall-mounted smart devices that are designed to take and implement commands.
You can also program the space in a way that when you get out of bed, the room morphs into an entertainment room, for example. In that case, the bed lifts away into the ceiling in order to free up the floor space clears, a TV wall emerges, the lights change, and everything turns into an entertainment stage.
Foldable PC
If Lenovo’s ThinkPad X1 Fold is an indication of the future, it is certain that future PCs will be foldable. These PCs can also transform into the traditional laptop set-up thanks to its mini keyboard that comes with the PC. The keyboard folds seamlessly into the PC.
Advanced voice translators
Travelers are already using the pocket all voice translator, a pocket-sized tech translator that offers fast translations during real-time conversations. Foreigners speak directly into the translator in the language they know best and the translator relays the message to the locals instantly. The pocket all translates up to 74 different languages. We can predict that going forward, no conversation will ever get lost in translation.
Self-driving cars
Self-driving cars are already on our city streets, but the best of autonomous driving is far from being realized. Future autonomous vehicles will be truly driverless- They will be able to change lanes, navigate intersections, and follow curving roads on their own. They will also be starting and stopping without human intervention, although that is not to mean that they will not require human supervision. There probably will be hundreds of millions of cars with self-driving features on our roads by 2030.
Conclusion
Future technology will be able to incorporate different technologies and tools to create pocket-size, more efficient devices. Everything from cameras, clocks, watches, lighting systems, and more, will be controlled from the pocket. Welcome to the connected world!
