3 Ireland to buy O2 Ireland

It was announced today that 3 Ireland will buy O2 Ireland for 780 million possibly rising to 850 million subject to meeting conditions. The deal will still have to pass the competition authority but if it does the combined company will have 37.5% share of the Irish mobile market, just behind Vodafone who will remain number one for now.
