The explosive impact of AI technologies on the AR and VR sectors will be a major theme of this year’s ARVR INNOVATE conference taking place in Dublin’s RDS on Friday, May 26th. The event has become firmly established as one of Europe’s top dedicated AR/VR events, and this year celebrates its 10th Anniversary.

According to a report published by industry representative group – Eirmersive – the sector was valued at €43m in 2022, employing over 750 people. The report found that early adopter Irish businesses deploying the technology are enjoying significant productivity gains. With the advent of widely available AI tools, it’s expected that there will be a corresponding explosive growth in AR and VR as these are technologies that are closely linked to AI.

Among the keynote speakers, this year are some familiar and some new voices.

From the Netherlands, Ferry Piekart was on the line-up for the first ARVR INNOVATE in 2014. He is currently a Senior Advisor at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment in the Netherlands and has continued over the past decade to dedicate himself to the art of storytelling, using technologies such as augmented reality.

Speaking for the first time at the event will be Eric Chevallet from the Paris-based Immersive Lab of global consulting company BearingPoint. The company, which has an office in Dublin, has been expanding its interests in AR and VR in Ireland over the past 18 months. They will showcase many of their initiatives, including the work that they have done with Leinster Rugby which includes a VR replica of the Aviva Stadium.

This year will also see a dedicated panel on the impact of Artificial Intelligence on AR and VR curated by Sure Valley Ventures.

Against the backdrop of this expansion, this year’s ARVR INNOVATE conference and exhibition, taking place in the RDS, Dublin, on Friday, May 26th, will again offer delegates to hear from leading international and domestic speakers who will illustrate practical best-case deployment of AR and VR in business. There will also be an opportunity to interact with over 30 exhibitors to try out the latest in AR and VR hardware, including headwear from companies such as Pico, Meta and Hololens.

The ARVR INNOVATE conference recently was listed in the Top 30 international immersive technology conferences, and as well as Irish delegates has attracted a growing number of overseas visitors, including an official delegation from the UK Department of Innovation and Trade. This year the Augmented Reality Enterprise Alliance (AREA) will partner with the conference to run dedicated workshops and panel discussions on using AR in enterprise contexts, addressing the challenges at both boardroom, manager and employee levels to faster deployment.
