Twenty early-stage companies have accepted a place on the IgniteNI Propel pre-accelerator programme which launches in January 2019.
Following the success of the first programme last year, IgniteNI, with the support of Invest NI, has selected a second cohort of aspiring entrepreneurs. Participants have the chance to grow and develop their business during a six month programme under the guidance of industry experts.
The twenty teams selected to take part on the programme come from a variety of sectors including, beauty, healthcare, fitness, fintech and recruitment.
The companies who secured a place on the programme will receive a £15,000 grant, 12 months free co-working space at the Ormeau Baths and some of the best mentoring and advice on offer from seasoned entrepreneurs who are experienced in the highs and lows of building start-ups.
Tristan Watson, CEO of Ignite, said: “Northern Ireland is a fantastic place for companies to build strong foundations and that is why competition for the second IgniteNI Propel pre-accelerator programme was extremely high. The calibre of teams who secured a place on the programme is a testament to the talent that exists in Northern Ireland.
“Taking an idea and making it into a reality is not an easy process, it’s important that companies have the best start and are equipped with the tools they need to grow a successful company. We hope to guide these teams through their first steps in the start-up journey and help develop their concepts into ground-breaking businesses.”
The IgniteNI Propel pre-accelerator programme is run by Ignite, who have invested in more than 150 companies across the UK since 2011.
IgniteNI is also accepting applicants for the second IgniteNI Accelerator programme which helps later stage companies at pivotal moments such as raising £500k+ and potentially looking to expand to the US.
Five of the companies on the programme will have the opportunity to spend three months in San Francisco building their start-up after the intensive 12-week programme in Belfast.
