100 security tips for the next 100 days, #100securedays, cyber security tips with Ward Solutions

Almost 90% of cyber-attacks are caused by human error. Companies need to emphasize more on security awareness training to their staff beyond simply sending an email.

It is not only the ‘IT’ department that is responsible for the security of a business, it is the responsibility of every employee. Employee mistakes was a factor in two-thirds of the incidents assessed. 

The real questions are- Is everyone (not just IT) paying attention to security, how do we delivery the best practice security knowledge in a way that people can easily consume and assimilate it so that they do the right things?

Ward Solutions Initiative #100securedays is a very simple concept of releasing one security tip every day for the next 100 days. The tip takes less than 2 minutes to read, is presented in a very visual and easy to read and understand form that are very relatable to every individual from an end user, to IT admin staff. We started with #50securedays last year and it was a huge success, so decided to expand it to #100securedays.

The difference is that people stay aware and careful of their surroundings. Blog/e-mail or structured end user security awareness and compliance training have their place but typically takes a lot longer to read. People may not have time to look at the content and most of the time they think the communication is not targeted to them.

The truth is almost all business is now entirely digitally dependent and everyone connected to the internet needs to be really security savvy. This means, everyone is responsible when it comes to security.
