Acteavo @acteavo provides online booking software to tour and activity providers that simplifies booking and customer management through one dashboard.

How are you different?

Booking solutions are often confusing and complicated for small businesses to use.  Acteavo combines an online booking system with tools to manage your day to day business: such as crm, accounting and payments.  We are also developing a suite of mobile payment solutions so that tourism businesses can manage all aspects of their operations on the move.  This reduces the needs for costly back office teams and non-revenue generating office space.

Until now integrated booking, payment and customer management solutions were extremely costly and difficult to implement.  They typically represented a patchwork of systems, that required trained staff to use them.  We believe that software should serve the customer and not that the customer serve the software.  Therefore we endeavour to ensure our online booking software is easy and intuitive to use, requires limited training and grows with your business over time.

Why will the company / product do well?

The tours and activities sector has been relatively slow to get online.  For instance, less than 15% of tour and activity providers have a booking system, despite selling to international tourists.  It is true that these businesses lacked the scale to pay for enterprise software systems such as hotel focussed property management systems.  However, in general the available systems were not good enough for 1-5 man operations, requiring too much time and training to operate them.  Time the small business person didn’t have.

Acteavo was built from the ground up for tour and activity businesses, with the team spending months researching and meeting with businesses in the sector to understand their needs. Not only is Acteavo a best in class software solution, it also has a team that really knows and understands the industry which is a huge bonus.

Where are you based? How is the broadband?

We’re based in the StartLocal offices on Waterloo Road. The broadband is good, there have been some improvements made since we first moved in and the overall setup couldn’t be better.  Hats off to Gene Murphy @genemurphy and the FCR Media team.

When was the company launched?

Acteavo was founded in September 2013 by Olan O’Sullivan Olan O’Sullivan and Danielle Mallen. The product was launched in January 2014.

What have been your biggest wins to date?

Well, we launched in early 2014 and are now working with some of the biggest tour and activity providers in Ireland. We also have customers across Europe, the US, and the UK.

We’re also one of the few European tour booking software companies to be chosen to integrate with Tripadvisor.  Any customer that works with us will have the ability to have a real-time listing with Tripadvisor and their tours online travel agent – Viator.  This means no more manual updates of their systems, everything is read directly from your Acteavo booking system, saving you time and removing the risk of double bookings.  We’re pretty excited about this.

We were also accepted onto StartupChile where our CEO, Olan, is currently based developing contacts in the Latin American market with the help of the Chilean government.

What type of people (market segment) are you trying to attract to your product?

Our target customers are tour and activity operators. This can be a wide ranging sector from city based activities like hop on-off tours, attractions, guided tours and shore excursions to adventure activities like surfing, kayaking and biking operators.

Tell us about your team?

Olan (CEO) and Danielle (COO) are the co-founders of Acteavo. Olan focuses on the commercial direction of the business as well as business development. Danielle is our customer experience champion and provides the link between our customers and the development team.

Colin is our CTO and oversees all things techie related. He is a full stack developer who loves innovation and product development.

Andrea is our graphic designer from Barcelona. She brings heaps of graphic flair and creativeness to the team.

What are your long term plans for your product / company?

We are launching into Spanish speaking markets in the next few months, a further step towards world domination! Over the next 2 years, we aim to become the booking software of choice for this sector.

 What are your favourite tech gadgets?

The Acteavo team are big fans of tech gadgets (well everyone except Danielle). There’s a general love and appreciation for the Apple Mac Pro and of course the iPhone, which most of the team can’t seem to live without.

Anything else?

We wouldn’t be involved in this space if we weren’t adventurers at heart and love all things travel related.  Members of the team have trekked the Himalayas, scuba diving in Borneo, and other adventure activities all over the world.
