1 min pitch for what you are doing now?

The LavaCon Conference on Content Strategy and User Experience, takes place 22-25 May 2017, Dublin, Ireland. High Tech companies are notorious for creating content “silos.” Marketing generates content, tech support generates content, the technical communication and user documentation department generates content—and none of these departments are talking to each other!

What does that do to the overall User Experience (UX)?

How many thousands of Euros are being wasted each quarter translating content that exists in multiple silos?

These are questions that will be answered at LavaCon Dublin 2017.

What are your plans for 2017?

Our theme for 2017 is “Spanning Silos, Building Bridges”—bringing together professionals from multiple content silos, where they can brainstorm how to reduce costs, generate revenue, and increase the customer experience by eliminating content duplication and wasteful translation.

What will you be talking about at this event?

LavaCon is a gathering place for content and user experience (UX) professionals who are willing to share their best practices and lessons learns—both what worked, and what didn’t. Attendees get as much (if not more) out of networking with peers from other high tech companies than they do from the sessions themselves. We know this, so we offer plenty of professional networking and social networking events. So remember to bring your business cards!

Why should people attend LavaCon?

There is nothing more fulfilling than hearing an attendee say they learned something at my conference that radically transformed how they support (and retain) customers. It’s the best feeling in the world!

How was the last 12 months, what worked well?

By far what worked best was bringing together professionals from leading tech companies such as Amazon.com, Google, Microsoft, Mastercard, IBM, Cisco Systems, and more. LavaCon really is a gathering place where practicing industry professionals are willing to share their best practices and lessons learned!

What didn’t move as quickly as you would have liked?

One of my keynote speakers once said, “There are never enough resources—get over it.”

Knowing that to be true, each year I ask the conference production team, “How can we do even better than last year with the resources we have available?”

And each year they rise to the occasion!

The lesson learned is to find the best people to be on your team.

The rest just falls into place.

How can people find out more about what you are working on?

Check out the LavaCon program here and follow the speakers that interest you the most. Warning: There are a lot of them on this year’s program!

Plus I am always willing to hear from my followers. They can reach me on Twitter at @JackMolisani and @LavaCon, or email me directly at [email protected]

Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?

Since you have a global audience, let me add that each year we record all sessions and live-stream an interactive Virtual Track. So even if you can’t attend in person, you can still participate from your desk or mobile device, no matter where you are in the world!
