Hailo is to become mytaxi, as Europe´s largest e-hailing app launches in Ireland today, it has been announced.
From this week, Hailo customers can now change over to the mytaxi app quickly and simply by just opening their Hailo app and following the short directions to migrate over, giving them access to 10,000 drivers in Ireland, and also to e-hailing services in over 50 cities across nine, soon to be ten European countries, that includes a fleet of over 100,000 drivers.
While Hailo taxi drivers have already been migrating over to mytaxi for several weeks, passengers will still be able to use the Hailo app for a few months to give them time to change over to the new mytaxi service. mytaxi will service passengers nationwide and is now available for free download on Google Play and the App Store by non-Hailo users.
“Our team in Ireland has built a strong trustworthy service, with a reliable taxi fleet and we are now really looking forward to building on this to bring the simplicity and convenience of mytaxi’s market-leading offering to even more taxi users across Ireland,” Andrew Pinnington, Chief Executive Officer at mytaxi said.
“The mytaxi focus is on combining knowledge of what our customers need with real-time data to help our passengers move freely within the cities we service. We look to work in harmony with our drivers, and the cities and countries in which we operate to facilitate better movement in challenging and congested urban environments,” Pinnington added.
Tim Arnold, head of Hailo’s Irish operations and now mytaxi’s General Manager in Ireland said: “Our merger with mytaxi means existing Hailo customers can now avail of not only the largest taxi fleet in Ireland, but the largest taxi fleet in Europe, from the same reliable team and drivers that have been giving them great service over recent years.”
“We have been working hard over recent months to smooth the migration of Hailo’s pre-existing driver and passenger base over to the new mytaxi app,” Arnold said.
“mytaxi will now be pushing to expand our 10,000-driver fleet and is already the most economical and efficient source of work for drivers. E-hailing a taxi is the simplest, most convenient, safest way for passengers to travel so this is a hugely exciting development for Ireland. We’re looking forward to our customers enjoying some new app features in Ireland too, like sharing their location when on a mytaxi journey and saving their favourite drivers.”
The merger between mytaxi and Hailo created Europe’s largest taxi e-hailing company. mytaxi, a subsidiary of Daimler, is accelerating the international expansion of its taxi booking app across the continent and, with around 300 employees, it now operates in Germany, Austria, Poland, Spain, Italy, Portugal, the UK and Sweden, with plans afoot to grow its offering in Ireland and soon to launch in Greece following the recent acquisition of Taxibeat.
