We are now looking at a tsunami of Data. Over 100 terabytes plus of Data a day made up of streaming video, text, pictures and voice are being generated. Big Data will also need to be secured and managed and harvested as it expands. No stranger to Big Data is Shaku Atre. Shaku is the founder and managing partner of the Atre Group, Inc. Santa Cruz, California, and New York City, NY- a business intelligence and data warehousing corporation.
She is an internationally renowned expert who lectures on business intelligence, data warehousing, data mining, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and database technology. Atre is also author of six highly regarded books, Data Base: Structured Techniques for Design, Performance and Management, John Wiley & Sons; has coauthored Business Intelligence Roadmap : The Complete Project Lifecycle for Decision-Support Applications , Addison Wesley; among others on these topics. She has published hundreds of articles in trade publications. She has been a frequent speaker on these topics in the USA, Canada, Europe, South America, Asia and Australia.
She has worked with a number of organizations including financial institutions, manufacturing companies, Insurance organizations and health industry in resolving a number of business related issues by implementing appropriate technology. She worked for IBM for 14 years in Germany and the USA. She was also a partner at Price Waterhouse Coopers for a number of years. She has been an entrepreneur and has founded a number of IT companies in New York and California.
She holds Master of Science in Statistics from University of Pune, India and has done research at University of Heidelberg, Germany in Applied Mathematics.

Are you a teenage girl with an interest in STEM? Girls Hack Ireland wants you!
Websites - we use them every day - but have you ever wondered about how they are put together? Have you ever thought about how you might make your own?
Well, Girls Hack Ireland would love to show you how! We are running a free website workshop for girls on the 11th of March in Dublin City University. If you are aged between 13 and 17 years old, we'll teach you everything you need to know, and we'll provide you with a laptop too. All you have to bring on the day is yourself (and your parent/guardian if you are under 16).
Parents, while your daughters/charges are busy learning the ins and outs of web design, we'll be running a similarly themed course for you. You'll be able to continue the learning at home!
Girls Hack Ireland is a programme brought to you by the Insight Centre for Data Analytics. The programme aims to introduce girls to the world of science, technology, engineering and maths in a fun and supportive way.
Dr Aoibheann Bird, Education and Public Engagement Manager for the Insight Centre for Data Analytics says, ‘We’re very excited to be running this workshop in March – we’re looking forward to meeting new girls and parents, and introducing them to the creative world of technology!’

Equinix, the global interconnection and data centre company, in conjunction with industry analysts IDC, will hold a series of talks and a panel discussion at 4pm on Wednesday, 22nd March in the Aviva Stadium to discuss the pivotal role that cloud strategy and interconnection play in digital transformation.
At this Equinix-hosted event, Maurice Mortell, managing director of Ireland and emerging markets, Equinix; and Rory Murphy, senior director of Equinix EMEA, will discuss the strategic importance of hybrid cloud and the opportunities it offers Irish businesses. Industry analysts from IDC will give further insight through a presentation entitled Bridging Today with Tomorrow: A Market Prospective on the Future of Cloud in Ireland.
