Alison, one of the world’s largest free e-learning platforms, today welcomed Minister for Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation, Mary Mitchell O’Connor to their newly refurbished offices in Galway Technology Park, Parkmore to announce the creation of 30 new jobs due to the company’s expansion.

The new positions, supported by the Department of Jobs through Enterprise Ireland, are across many areas of the business – technology, sales, marketing and finance. Recruitment will begin immediately with all positions to be filled over the next 12 to 18 months.

Founded in 2007, by serial entrepreneur Mike Feerick, Alison is recognised as the first Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) provider, a movement which today is revolutionising global access to education, workplace skills training, and employment opportunities.

With 50 employees across Ireland and Western Europe, Alison boasts over 10 million registered learners, and over 1 million graduates from international markets to include Africa, India, North America, and Australia.  As well as assisting individual learners, Alison offers publishers the opportunity to market their skill set by creating online courses, where enterprise clients benefit from organised learning through Alison Pods.

During today’s visit, Minister Mitchell O’Connor commented on the tangible impact of the Enterprise Ireland funding, allocated to Alison in late 2016, coupled with their impressive and continual year-on-year growth – “I am delighted to join the Alison team today in its newly renovated headquarters in Galway and I welcome their announcement of further job growth which will see 30 new jobs created across tech, customer service, sales, marketing and finance.  These roles will be highly skilled, and in a regional location and will afford graduates and experienced professionals the opportunity to remain or indeed return to Galway to continue their careers. The Government through Enterprise Ireland looks forward to continued engagement with Alison to support their growth and business development.”

Niall O’Donnellan, Director, ICT and International Services, Enterprise Ireland “Alison’s global success is a shining example of the opportunities for Irish owned companies in global markets. Our ambition is to help more Irish companies like Alison to compete and win sustained business in overseas markets. Enterprise Ireland looks forward to working with Alison to continue to support their growth ambitions as they expand their reach even further in global markets, strengthening their customer base internationally and continuing to create jobs here in the West of Ireland.”

Mike Feerick, CEO, added “Alison is fully committed to keeping these roles in the West of Ireland, and to use Galway as a hub for further global expansion. The company is committed to its mission of continuing to assist learners in developing high quality & applicable workplace skills, regardless of location, means, or personal circumstances.”
