Great Interview with Niamh Waters Travel PR & Events Professional () and Social media geek. Niamh introduces the upcoming event: ConneXions taking place September 29 – October 1st and Hackathon (#Hack Your City! is a hackathon organised within the frame of ConneXions)

How many years has it been going?

This is the first year that such an event takes place. For the first time in Dublin, French and Irish companies in the fields of culture, education and technology will be gathered. Our goal is to make it a regular event.

What was the inspiration to start it?

The inspiration was to showcase French and Irish know-how in the sectors of education, culture and tech and to develop a network of skills between both countries. The Embassy of France in Ireland and Business France  got together with Dublin City Council to reflect and propose practical solutions to some of the challenges our modern cities currently face. How can culture and tech be linked? What space does education have in a new modernised world? ConneXions aims at providing answers to some of those questions and further the debate!

What exciting things can people look forward to for the 2017 version?

ConneXions is a free event taking place in Richmond Barracks, aimed at professionals and students and people interested by these fields. The forum is designed to allow guests circulation between the start-up market, where French and Irish start-ups will be showcasing their innovations in the sectors of education and culture, round-tables discussing the impact and the roles digital technology play in a city while hackers will be busy addressing Dublin 8 challenges linked with tourism, education and business.

What opportunities are on offer for people / startups / investors and companies attending?

ConneXions is the first event aiming at connecting professionals in the fields of education, culture and tech from France and Ireland. Several networking opportunities will allow professionals to develop new partnerships and business opportunities: a networking cocktail (invitation only) will mark the start of the event, B-to-B meetings (on demand) and the start-up market will be occasions to chat directly with those who work to improve the future of our cities. The important thing to note regarding this event is that it will allow you to network not only with other business owners, but also with very big companies, public authorities, investors, professors and future talents.

What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?

The event is designed to allow guests circulation from the start-up market to the round-tables, to listen and to meet people, and that is just what you should do! Enjoy the experts’ points of view during the round tables, and compare them to those of the various people in the networking areas …while checking out what the start-ups propose to make our cities a better place!
And if you have a creative mind and feel in need of doing a little bit of hacking, register to the hackathon #Hack Your City!
