Describe the company – the elevator pitch ..
SoAmpli turn sales teams into social selling stars, helping brands cut through the noise on social media and increase sales.
How are you different?
We demystify social media for sales teams, helping brands increase sales. We do this through 4 key features of our platform; simplicity, speed, timeliness and control. Our platform is extremely SIMPLE. It was once defined ‘stupid simple’ to use by one of our clients and we took that as a compliment. We also increase the SPEED of content sharing for sales teams by making it easy for even novices to get set up and make social selling work for them in a matter of minutes. It also helps sales teams be extremely TIMELY in their communications. Wherever they are, whatever they are doing, we help them reach the right audience with the right message on social. And we help companies gain back CONTROL of their messages on social media, securely tracking which content is being shared on the different social platforms, and what its impact on web traffic, engagement and, ultimately, revenue is.
Last but not least, our company’s motto is that we put the ‘S’ of Service back in SaaS, delivering award-winning onboarding and tailored support to all our clients.
Why will the company / product do well?
We make sure that we talk to our clients, putting their goals at the heart of everything we do. Our hands-on approach means we are able to deliver them more than our competitors, with monthly reports and personalised training included in all our packages. We are proud to say that 40% of the features on our platform come directly from client suggestions, meaning that we really are developing the tool around our clients’ real needs.
Where are you based?
Our main team is based in London, with our tech department located in Newcastle.
When was the company launched?
At the beginning of 2015.

What have been your biggest wins to date?
In the past 2 years we have been able to attract more than 300 clients from a variety of industries, some of them extremely regulated and very hard to penetrate, such as financial services, software/cybersecurity and charities. We love working with all of our clients, and we are particularly proud of a few of our recent collaborations. First, with British Heart Foundation, the single biggest funder of cardiovascular research in the UK, which chose us as their key tech provider to launch the organisation’s largest social advocacy programme to date. We are also very excited to have Rentokil Initial, British world-leading company in Pest Control and Hygiene services, as well as Skillsoft, the global leader in eLearning with 400 million users worldwide, as clients, enabling their social selling programmes globally.
Last year, in the middle of a very tumultuous summer, we also won Harvard Business School Investment Competition in London, which we are extremely proud of.

What type of people (market segment) are you trying to attract to your product?
SoAmpli is a social selling platform, so our ‘sweet spot industries’ are the ones with a medium/large salesforce looking to make the most of their social media channels to find and build on business opportunities. Other interesting segments include B2B brands that most people don’t expect to have a strong social media presence, if any, but are currently expanding their content and social selling strategies (e.g. environmental services, utilities, constructions, etc…) and industries that are highly digitised (e.g. multi-channel retail, e-commerce and e-services).
However SoAmpli is currently being used in many different ways. Marketing teams are using SoAmpli to manage their social media schedule and share approved content with their colleagues in all departments and external brand advocates. We are also having huge success with charities, helping them amplify their volunteers and activists to cut through the noise on social, ensuring that their voice is heard.

Tell us about your team?
Primarily based in London and Newcastle, our growing team spans a variety of disciplines from sales, accounts, marketing and content. When we are not meeting with clients, we are always thinking of new way promote SoAmpli, normally while drinking an insane about of coffee or brainstorming in the pizza place next door.
Also, this is not our first start-up adventure. The founder and CEO, Maz Nadjm, is a serial social media entrepreneur with 14 years of experience in corporate digital marketing (Sky, Ogilvy) and has been recognised by MIT, Forbes and Times as a Top 50 global social media influencer.
The co-founder and Chair, Karel Leeflang, is an experienced senior executive at companies like Unilever, Deloitte, Barclays and Cadbury Schweppes. Kalel has extensive expertise and a true passion for business, innovation and tech, and he is currently also CEO of business strategy and analytics advisory StrategyPod and Board member at Swiss augmented reality company Vidinoti.
What are you long term plans for your product / company?
SoAmpli aims to be the Artificial Intelligence for good sales content, enabling marketing and sales teams to engage prospects in a new way, using the best possible content at every stage of the sales journey. We are currently in the process of combining Artificial Intelligence (AI), Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Data Analytics to improve relevancy, decrease marketing costs and save time, increasing our clients sales beyond what is currently being achieved.
So, for the future, we want to keep being at the forefront of the social selling trend and continue to harness the power of Artificial Intelligence to improve our solution. Social media networks are becoming such a big part of our daily life, and more and more organisations and brands will need to find new ways to cut through the noise and keep delivering the right message to the right audience. We look forward to supporting them in this exciting challenge!
What are your favourite tech gadgets?
Amazon Alexa. I’m very excited about its opportunities at the moment.
What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?
Anything that can make life easier, in any way. I am always on the look out for new and exciting gadgets and apps to help me save time and be more productive, at work and in life in general.
Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?
There are so many AI start-ups or new start-ups talking about its possibilities, and how it makes you different. We, on the other hand, have been in business for over two years and have come to understand the opportunities brought about by Artificial Intelligence at the end of a very interesting journey.
SoAmpli went live in 2014, survived two pivots in 3 years, with the last being highly successful. We ran out of cash twice, but pulled through. We currently know the pain points of our clients and their end customers, and this is how the idea of applying machine learning and artificial intelligence to our processes came about. Our thinking helps with specific challenges that customers face. At the stage we are at now, we don’t have to second-guess the need for our solution or do extensive fact finding to present our product in a way that makes sense to customers thanks to everything we have learnt over the past two years. At SoAmpli, we like to say that start-up years are like dog years…
