When is it on?
Tuesday 4th July – from 6:30-10pm
How long has is been going for?
This is our first InvestHer Meetup worldwide, and no better place to kick off than my home town in Dublin! We will most likely be doing one in Paris in August/September and probably London in the autumn too.
What was the inspiration to start it?
Our mission at Global Invest Her is to help women entrepreneurs learn about funding and get investor ready. We want to help close the Gender Funding Gap of $300 billion (that’s the amount of funding goes to male-led startups vs female led startups worldwide). We have over 500 members from over 30 countries now, with 40 in Ireland so far – so it was time to bring our members and future members/supporters together! Our first event in Dublin (November 2015) in partnership with DCU RyanAcademy, ‘Demystifying the Dark Art of Funding’ was a big success and even last year attendees were still coming up to me asking when is our next event! So we’re starting now!
What exciting things can people look forward to this first Meetup?
We’ll have some amazing Inspirefest speakers (including seasoned investors who will share key tips) coming to share some funding wisdom, you can meet current #InvestHer members and learn more about our platform and community. This is a chance for female founders to meet in a fun, relaxing setting, connect with each other and get inspired to move forward on their funding journey, whatever stage they may be at. You’ll also get to hear from current #InvestHer members about what they get out of being in this community.
What opportunities are on offer for people/startups/investors and companies attending?
There will be a chance to win Kelly Hoey’s fabulous bestseller book on Networking ‘ Build Your Dream Network’ and other special prizes on the night! Plus you’ll get the chance to actually talk to some Inspirefest speakers before the big event! Mainly, you will be inspired and energised to take the next steps forward on your funding journey!
What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?
Be curious, open and armed with your funding questions and business cards. Be clear on what you want to get out of the evening before you go, so you’ll get the most out of it, whether it making meaningful connections with at least 4 people, deciding to connect with other female founders at and beyond the event… Be intentional in your networking.
How can people book tickets / when does it usually sell out?
Get your tickets on Eventbrite here: Make sure you sign up soon as they are going fast! It will probably sell out by Monday 3rd July so don’t miss out!
Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?
Come for the Connections, stay for the Community and help us shape it. Be a part of our movement to get more female founders funded! Yes we can and Yes we will!
